Terms of Service
Last updated: 21 June 2026
These terms govern your use of AirAutomate: our website, the Alfred hardware, and the service that runs it. AirAutomate Ltd (“AirAutomate”, “we”, “us”) is based in Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. By creating an account or placing an order you agree to these terms; if you don't agree, please don't use the service.
The service
AirAutomate provides Alfred, a smart-heating system for short-term rental properties: hardware you install at a property and a service that automates heating around your bookings. We work hard to keep the service available and accurate, but we provide it on a reasonable- efforts basis and can't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Your account
You need an account to manage properties and your subscription. Keep your sign-in details secure and don't share them. You're responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed it. You must give accurate details and keep them up to date.
Orders, hardware, and delivery
When you order Alfred we collect the contact, delivery, and account details needed to fulfil the order. A contract is formed when we confirm your order. Title to the hardware passes to you once we have received payment in full; risk passes on delivery. You are responsible for installing the hardware safely and for ensuring it suits your property and heating system.
Returns and refunds
You have a legal right to cancel a distance purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Nothing here reduces that right. See Returns & Cancellations for how to cancel and the model cancellation form.
On top of it, we give you 30 days from delivery to change your mind about the hardware. Email info@airautomate.comand send the Alfreds back. You don't need to give a reason, and we cover the cost of return postage. We refund the hardware in full within 14 days of receiving it back (or of your proof that you sent it). Please return the hardware complete and in a condition that lets us resell it; we may reduce a refund to reflect handling beyond what was needed to inspect it.
Warranty
Every Alfred is covered for 12 months from the day it first comes online at your property. If a unit develops a fault in that time, report it from your dashboard and we ship a replacement at no charge. This is in addition to your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Subscription and billing
Alfred runs on a monthly subscription. Card payments are handled by Stripe (your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers) and you authorise us to charge your saved payment method for each billing cycle. Your account gets a 30-day free trial of the subscription at first purchase; the one-time hardware charge is taken at checkout and is not part of the trial. Billing begins when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. Prices include applicable VAT.
You can cancel your subscription from your dashboard at any time. Cancelling stops the automation for that property straight away and removes it from future billing; monthly charges are not prorated, so the cycle you have already paid for is not refunded. Your Alfreds stay yours and keep working as ordinary thermostats, with frost protection still running.
Booking-calendar integrations
You can connect a booking-calendar integration (for example Hostaway or an iCal feed) so Alfred can heat around your bookings. You are responsible for the credentials you provide and for your use of those third-party services, which are governed by their own terms. We use the connection only to read the booking information Alfred needs.
Acceptable use
Use the service lawfully and as intended. Don't attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the service or its systems, and don't use it in a way that infringes others' rights or breaks the law.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud). Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability connected with the service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Alfred assists with heating. It does not replace your responsibility to maintain a safe, working heating system at your property.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves (for example when pricing or features change) and will revise the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged to account holders. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Northern Ireland, and the courts of Northern Ireland have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
