From single cottages to houses with several heating zones, some ours and some run for other owners. The problem in this story came from them.
How we got here
It started with a zone somebody forgot.
A different app for every property.
A mixed portfolio means a mix of smart thermostats, each with its own app and its own login. Someone on the team has to remember which property lives in which.
Turn it up before every arrival.
Ahead of each check-in, one of the team logs in and turns the heating up by hand, so the guest walks into a comfortable property.
Then one day, nobody turns it down.
With that many properties it is easy to miss a zone. The heating runs flat out in an empty property until the next guest arrives, and the money and the energy are gone.
So we built what we needed.
We knew the industry, and we had the software and hardware knowledge in the team. Alfred follows the booking calendar, so nobody has to remember anything.
Everyone has a workaround.
Since we started we have talked to other owners and managers, and nearly all of them had invented a fix of their own. Each one works. Each one costs something.
An app for every thermostat
Log in before each arrival, turn it up, and try to remember to turn it down after. It works until the week somebody forgets one.
A boost button on the wall
Some owners swapped the thermostat for a timed boost button. It stops the waste, and the property is never comfortable on arrival.
Message me to change it
One host has guests contact them to adjust the heating. The bill stays low, and every guest has to ask before they can be comfortable.
